Indigenous Rights Database

This is an initiative by the Center for Orang Asli Concerns (COAC) and RimbaWatch to map and highlight cases of Indigenous rights violations in Malaysia. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about Indigenous rights.

This interactive map supports Indigenous communities in documenting and sharing information about customary territories, land rights, and community priorities. It can be used to support advocacy and local decision-making.

How to Use the Interactive Map (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Click on the interactive map above to view available locations.

Step 2: Click on a red dot to select a village.

Step 3: An information box will appear showing details such as:

  • Village name
  • Village description
  • Ethnic group
  • Court case status (if applicable)

Step 4: Use the zoom in and zoom out functions to adjust your view of the map.

Step 5: Currently, the map only displays data for Malaysia.

Submit Data & Report Issues

Community members and representatives can submit data and report issues on the ground, including customary boundaries, land use areas, community landmarks, conflicts, threats, legal cases, and developments affecting Indigenous territories.

For the General Public

This interactive map provides information on Indigenous customary territories, land rights issues, and developments affecting Indigenous communities. It is designed to improve public understanding and support greater transparency on Indigenous rights and land governance.

Members of the public may use the map to explore available data and learn more, but data submission is limited to verified community representatives and partners.

How to Submit Data (Step-by-Step)

To submit information or reports to the Indigenous Rights Database, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the Google Form. Click the “Submit Data & Report Issues” button or click this link to access the form: https://forms.gle/6jmsV24kXtphqrvh9 

Step 2: Fill in the information based on the questions shown in the Google Form.

Step 3: Upload documents or images (if any). You may upload photos, supporting documents, official letters, reports, or other evidence.

Step 4: Review before submitting. Make sure all information provided is accurate and complete.

Step 5: Click “Submit”. After submission, our team will review the information before adding it to the database.

Note: All submissions will go through a verification process to ensure accuracy and information security.
